The Chemistry Department at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) invites applications for a non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor to begin August, 2017. The successful candidate must have a minimum of a Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field completed before August 1, 2017 and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Experience pursuing innovative and engaging teaching strategies is desirable. Teaching responsibilities may include introductory chemistry lecture and lab for science majors, preparatory chemistry lecture and lab, upper division chemistry classes including lab, special topics courses and courses in the Capital Scholars Honors Program. Opportunities to mentor undergraduate research may also be available. While this position will primarily teach on-ground classes, we encourage applicants who have an interest in online teaching.
